About this model
SPECIAL ORDER - DELIVERY TAKES APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 12 WEEKS
The AVS Shadow Prototype was one of the most radical racing cars ever conceived. Created by American driver and engineer Don Nichols, the Shadow project was designed to challenge conventional thinking in Can-Am racing. The ultra-low "Lowline" prototype featured an incredibly low profile made possible by the use of 10-inch front wheels and 12-inch rear wheels, dramatically reducing frontal area while improving aerodynamic efficiency. Constructed around a lightweight aluminum monocoque chassis with fiberglass bodywork and powered by a Chevrolet V8, the Shadow prototype became one of the most innovative and recognizable racing cars of the late 1960s, paving the way for the successful Shadow racing team of the 1970s.
This Marsh Models 1:43 scale replica faithfully recreates the original 1969 AVS Shadow Prototype, one of motorsport's most fascinating experimental race cars. Although the prototype faced significant development challenges and never achieved major race success, its revolutionary design demonstrated Don Nichols' willingness to rethink virtually every aspect of sports car engineering. The car's distinctive wedge-shaped body, tiny wheels, and ultra-low stance earned it the nickname "Lowline" and made it one of the most photographed and discussed Can-Am prototypes of its era. Its influence extended far beyond its competition results, establishing Shadow as one of racing's most innovative constructors.
Expertly handcrafted by Marsh Models, this limited-production 1:43 scale resin model accurately captures the extraordinary shape of the original AVS Shadow Prototype. The sleek black finish, dramatically low bodywork, distinctive air intake, exposed suspension, miniature front wheels, detailed cockpit, and faithful prototype details are beautifully reproduced. Produced in limited numbers, this museum-quality model is an outstanding addition for collectors of Can-Am racing, experimental race cars, and the pioneering designs of Don Nichols.
